As per the Section 4(1)(b) of the Right to Information Act, we have published the following sixteen categories of information below:
(i) the particulars of its organisation, functions and duties:
Ninasam was established in 1949 and was registered as a society in 1956 under the Registration of Societies’ Act, 1860. For more details see Bye-law
(ii) the powers and duties of its officers and employees:
The teachers at the Ninasam Theatre Institute take classes for students admitted every year. The services of all other
Administrative and Maintenance Staff working in various departments are used for smooth functioning of the organisation. Services of Administrative Staff are used for maintaining the records and administrative work.
(iii) the procedure followed in the decision making process, including channels of supervision and accountability:
Ninasam is a Society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and an autonomous organization. It receives grant-in-aid from the Ministry of Culture, GOI and Dept. of Kannada & Culture, Govt. of Karnataka, and several other government and non governmental bodies. Ninasam has an Executive Committee which is responsible for all the decision making. Subcommittees are formed for specific purposes whenever required.
(iv) the norms set by it for the discharge of its functions:
To organise people interested in Theatre and allied Arts and also in Folk Arts. To work for individual and community in development through the medium of different Arts; To involve in and to instigate research, practice and Publication in the field of Theatre and other Arts.
(v) the rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records, held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions:
All the employees of the Ninasam Theatre Institute are governed by the Grant-in-aid code framed by the Dept. of Culture, Govt. of Karnataka. Wherever the Institute has not framed its own Rules the Institute follows Civil Services Rules.
(vi) a statement of the categories of documents that are held by it or under its control:
All documents required to be maintained under Registration of Societies’ Act, 1860 are kept regularly at Ninasam.
(vii) the particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with, or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation of its policy or implementation thereof:
As a Society, Ninasam is controlled by its General Body. No formal provision for consultation with the general public exists; However, such consultations are done informally all through the year.
(viii) a statement of the boards, councils, committees and other bodies consisting of two or more persons constituted as its part or for the purpose of its advice, and as to whether meetings of those boards, councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public, or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public:
The minutes of the various meetings held by the General Body and the Executive Committee of Ninasam are not relevant to the public, as the meetings are for the purpose of day to day supervision/advise for smooth functioning of the organisation. However the Annual Report gives all the details of the activities.

All the officers and employees on regular services at the Ninasam Theatre Institute get salaries as per the Grant- in-aid code formed by the Dept. of Culture, Govt. of Karnataka.

This does not apply to Ninasam as it has no subsidy programmes.
